Dr. Ștefan Răileanu, graduate of the Faculty of Veterinary Medicine, class of 2005, from the University of Agricultural Sciences and Veterinary Medicine Cluj-Napoca, specialized in Parasitology, Ecoparasitology, Infectious Diseases, Zoonotic Diseases, Pathology and Recovery of sport horses. In 2015, he publicly defended his doctoral thesis with the title “Parasitofauna of the mallard duck (Anas plathyrhynchos), coot (Fulica atra), great cormorant (Phalacrocorax carbo) and pygmy cormorant (Phalacrocorax pygmaeus) from the Danube Delta Biosphere Reserve”, in Cluj- Napoca within the University of Agricultural Sciences and Veterinary Medicine Cluj – Napoca, after which he obtained the title of Doctor of Veterinary Medicine. He currently leads the department of the Center for the Study of Transboundary, Emerging and Zoonoses Diseases. It carries out programs, projects and studies aimed at parasitic diseases in the animal series on the territory of the Danube Delta, phytosanitary studies, research in the field of parasitology, infectious diseases and zoonotic diseases on wild and domestic animal populations from deltaic biocenoses. He participated in more than 20 research projects, published more than 28 scientific papers in national and international publications in the field, books, book chapters. Laureate of two awards of the Romanian Academy, he carries out research activities mainly in the territory of the Danube Delta.
