Mitică Ciorpac, PhD, graduated with a bachelor’s degree in Biology, specializing in Biochemistry in 2010, followed by a master’s degree in Molecular Genetics completed in 2012 at “Alexandru Ioan Cuza” University of Iași. In 2013 he was hired as Research Assistant (RA) at the Interdisciplinary Research Department – Field Science of the “Alexandru Ioan Cuza” University of Iași. During that time he completed his doctoral studies in Biology, specializing in Molecular Genetics, at the same university. He obtained his PhD in 2016. Since 2016 he has been employed at the Danube Delta National Institute for Research and Development as a Research Assistant in molecular genetics. His main tasks are population genetics and molecular phylogeny analyses, being involved in international projects such as “Development of an identification method for and a genetic assessment of Danube River (and Black Sea) sturgeon stocks as a prerequisite for sustainable fisheries and conservation management (DASTMAP)” funded through ERA-Net COFASP by UEFISCDI. He is actively involved in research and results dissemination, being the author of more than 10 scientific papers and having participated at more than 15 international conferences.
