Liliana Paraschiva Török, PhD, is a Research Scientist II, Scientific Director of the of the Danube Delta National Institute for Research and Development – Tulcea, doctor in Biology awarded by Ovidius University of Constanța. Her research and consultancy activities are related to aquatic biodiversity, freshwater eutrophication, wetlands ecological restoration and environmental impact assessment of the cooling water from Cernavodă Nuclear Power Plant. Has extensive experience on phytoplankton from the Lower Danube River, including the Danube Delta Biosphere Reserve, accumulated through various national research funded by GEF/World Bank, UNDP, PHARE, the EU Framework Program REBECCA, REFORM, FORECASTER, ICPDR INVSEC etc. Has been coordinator of research projects focused on freshwater eutrophication funded by the Balkan Environmental Association (B.EN.A) and Romanian Ministry of Education and Research, ecological restoration funded by the Romanian Ministry of Education and Research, and management plan for the Danube Delta funded by the Romanian Ministry of Environment. Is project coordinator of the BSB-NET-Eco funded by the Black Sea Basin Joint Operational Programme, and the chief editor of the DELTAICA technical periodic journal and the International Symposium “Deltas and Wetlands” Book of Abstracts.
