Proiectul vine în întâmpinarea problemelor de mediu ale transportului pe ape interioare puse în evidență de diverse politici, strategii și inițiative europene precum: Europe2020, NAIADES II, European Strategy for the Danube Region, White Paper – Roadmap to a Single European Transport Area – Towards a competitive and resource efficient transport system.

Activitățile proiectului includ: proceduri transnaţionale pentru determinarea şi respectarea standardelor privind emisiile;

  • Reducerea emisiilor prin utilizarea de tehnologii ecologice cu ajutorul unui studiu asupra flotei actuale  în ceea ce privește tipuri de motoare, vechimea navei, consumul de combustibil şi emisiile de gaze;
  • Dezvoltarea navigaţiei pe Dunăre cu limitarea impactului negativ al sistemelor de transport asupra ecosistemului Dunării prin pregătirea unei strategii transnaţionale de dezvoltare a unui management adecvat. Acesta va duce la limitarea emisiilor în coridorul Dunării.

Establishing the ecological status of the DDBR aquatic ecosystems is based on biological quality criteria, given by hydro-morphological, chemical, physico-chemical indices and specific micro-pollutants that influence biological indicators. This project is a continuation of a long-term monitoring process that aims to highlight the changes in diversity and water quality, using biological communities assessment (phyto-plankton, invertebrate fauna, aquatic flora and ichtyofauna) combined with physico-chemical parameters of the representative aquatic ecosystems from the Danube Delta Biosphere Reserve.

Study of the accumulation and transfer of the priority/priority-hazardous substances in aquatic trophic chains across the DDBR – Risk factors for human health (2016-2017) PN 47N/2016, PN 16 28 03 03, Coordinator Adrian Burada, PhD

This project presents an intermodal approach (chemical, biological, hydro-biological, ecological, ichthyological, etc.) to quantify biomarker responses to the external environment and relationship status of aquatic ecosystems with human health.

One of the main objectives of this research project is to evaluate the content of priority/priority-hazardous substances in the biotic and abiotic components of the DDBR aquatic environments and to determine the degree of transfer to fish species that are used as a food source.

Simultaneously with these objectives research strategies will be developed to determine the binding capacity of specific pollutants to DDBR vegetation, with exploitable potential, to extend research directions in the near future on methods of phytoremediation.
