Activity of the department was and is supported by the existence of adequate facilities. For activity information system, the department is equipped with 6 servers purchased between 2005 and 2015. On these servers was performed for the first time the Natura2000 database for Romania, were processed LIDAR data from different flights, Web GIS applications designed within the department have been tested and run.

For the hydraulic modeling the department has a graphic station HP xw8400 on which is running 1 Sobek Rural 1D2D license with an “Overflow” extension and a AQUATOX license for ecosystems modeling.

Multibeam Sonar

Completely designed and manufactured within the Teledyne Marine group, the ES3 Multibeam Echosounder is designed to meet the needs of hydrographic professionals that are looking for a low cost yet high performance swath sounder.

Sounding Performance
Using both amplitude and phase bottom detection, ES3 is capable of sounding a swath of up to 120 degrees in 100m depth of water, and up to 100m at nadir.

Using a new and improved Real Time Appliance (RTA), the echo sounder can be interfaced with all of the sensors necessary for surveying whilst maintaining accurate timing synchronization.

Operates at 240 kHz with a maximum swath of 120º composed by up to 480 beams which works at maximum 100 m depth.

Singlebeam Sonar

The SonarMite Echo Sounder is the result of nearly two years research and development to further extend the boundaries of shallow water hydrographic surveying equipment. The introduction by Ohmex in 1997 of the SonarLite, the worlds first truly portable echo sounder system, has been a hard act to follow and it remains the portable instrument of choice in many survey companies around the world.

An elegant, rugged, light (1.7 kg, 18×18 cm), and hermetically sealed box accommodates all GNSS and Modem electronics, antennas, and up to 20 hours of rechargeable batteries and its sophisticated power management system. The close proximity of our batteries with the electronic section helps the batteries to absorb heat and function better in cold weathers. The batteries can be charged with any power supply from 10 volts to 30 volts, which includes car, ship and airplane batteries.

All GNSS, UHF, GSM, Bluetooth, and WiFi antennas are conveniently hidden and protected. An external antenna can also be connected to bypass the internal GNSS antenna. There are two SIM cards inside the box, one of them can be easily reached and changed via a small sealed door.

Davis Wireless Vantage Pro Weather Station

A wireless weather station with a versatile sensor suite that combines rain collector, temperature and humidity sensors and anemometer into one package. The Vantage Pro can be customized by adding consoles or the special-purpose options. As it is, it records the following parameters:

  • rain;
  • winds;
  • temperature;
  • humidity;
  • insolation.
DJI Phantom 4 Drone

An intelligent and yet compact Unmanned Aerial Vehicle (UAV) that aims in upgrading the orthomosaics of the studied areas, especialy for vegetation aplication.

An uprated camera is equipped with a 1-inch 20-megapixel sensor capable of shooting 4K/60fps video and Burst Mode stills at 14 fps.The adoption of titanium alloy and magnesium alloy construction increases the rigidity of the airframe and reduces weight. The FlightAutonomy system adds dual rear vision sensors and infraredsensing systems for a total of 5-direction of obstacle sensing and 4-direction of obstacle avoidance.


ArcGIS is a geographic information system (GIS) for working with maps and geographic information. It is used for: creating and using maps; compiling geographic data; analyzing mapped information; sharing and discovering geographic information; using maps and geographic information in a range of applications; and managing geographic information in a database.

The system provides an infrastructure for making maps and geographic information available throughout an organization, across a community, and openly on the Web.

ERDAS Imagine

ERDAS Imagine is a remote sensing application with raster graphics editor abilities designed by ERDAS for geospatial applications. Imagine is aimed mainly at geospatial raster data processing and allows users to prepare, display and enhance digital images for mapping use in geographic information system (GIS) and computer-aided design (CAD) software. It is a toolbox allowing the user to perform numerous operations on an image and generate an answer to specific geographical questions.

By manipulating imagery data values and positions, it is possible to see features that would not normally be visible and to locate geo-positions of features that would otherwise be graphical. The level of brightness, or reflectance of light from the surfaces in the image can be helpful with vegetation analysis, prospecting for minerals etc. Other usage examples include linear feature extraction, generation of processing work flows (spatial models in Imagine), import/export of data for a wide variety of formats, orthorectification, mosaicking of imagery, stereo and automatic feature extraction of map data from imagery.
