MSc Daniela Nicoleta Holostenco, graduated with a bachelor’s degree in Biology at “Alexandru Ioan Cuza” University of Iași, in 2000. Since 2008 has been working at the Danube Delta National Institute for Research and Development, Tulcea as a Research Assistant. She has specialized in isolation and purification techniques of nucleic acids, gene amplification and RFLP in the Laboratory of Molecular Genetics. In 2011 she graduated with a Masters degree in Sustainable Coastal Development at the University of Science and Technology in Trondheim, Norway, studies funded by the BestCombat project (2009-2011).  She is currently Research Scientist (RS) and a PhD student at the University of Bucharest, School of University Studies in Ecology. In 2013 she participated in the Training on surgical techniques for sturgeon within the International Sturgeon Symposium (ISS 7) Nanaimo, Canada.

Her research spans the fields of population ecology and molecular phylogeny focusing mainly on sturgeon ecology and phylogeny.  She has been actively involved in research and results dissemination participating in national and international scientific projects, workshops and symposia, as well as a co-author of scientific papers in the field. Since 2011 she has been a member of the World Sturgeon Conservation Society (WSCS).
